Cavanaugh's Cavaliers
by Rob Fontaine (Templar Knight)

History                                                          TO&E

Captain Bryce Cavanaugh was given command of a special deep raiding and
reconnaissance unit on September 15, 3054.  His orders were to create and outfit
a deep reconnaissance unit (Battalion size) for raiding behind Clan lines.  Bryce
chose from the survivors of the 41st Avalon Hussars RCT, Davion Heavy
Guards, and 1st Kathil Uhlans.  The Cavaliers trained for the better part of six
months honing their skills to a razor’s edge before getting assigned a Command
Overlord Dropship,   Defiant Sword  and the Tramp Jumpship, "Brazen
Whore".  The unit received the latest in military technology from both the
Federated Commonwealth and Draconis Combine.

The Unit was given some captured Clan Omni-Mechs and a few new Inner
Sphere designs including a MAD-5A Marauder II.  He also received 50 proto-
ypes of a new Improved PPC for field testing.

The unit departed Morges on March 28, 3055 bound for Baker 3. After raiding
and gathering intel (and beating up 2 binary’s of the enemy) on Baker 3,  the
Cavaliers (minus two lances of ‘Mechs and 6 Mechwarriors) headed for
Twycross where they defeated a Trinary’s worth of Clan Warriors.  When they
departed, they headed for New Caledonia.  On New Caledonia, the Cavalier’s
suffered losses of another lance of Mechwarriors and 6 ‘Mechs.  From New
Caledonia, the unit headed to St. John where they met and defeated a resting
front line Clan Wolf unit.

After St. John,  Leoben was next on the target list, where a full company of
‘Mechs and Warriors were buried.  The Cavalier’s headed into the old pirate
realms of the Periphery to evade pursuit from Clan Ghost Bear forces.  They
made their way to Santander’s world and went underground for a few months to
rest and repair.  They recruited a company’s worth of Warriors and 2 lances of
old ‘Mechs.  The ‘Mechs were re-fitted with captured tech to make them more
useful.

The Cavalier’s then headed along the edge of known space until they reached the
Combine world of Turtle Bay on Jan. 12, 3057.  They carefully made their way
to Wolcott .  On Wolcott, they liased with the Combine Military and down-loaded
a copy of all the data they had gathered to date.  The DCMS gave the Cavalier’s
a 6 month period of rest and refitting in exchange for the data.

Bryce received word from the Federated Commonwealth promoting him and any
surviving members of the unit 1 grade in rank for "Meritous service above and
beyond the call of duty".  Bryce himself received a Knighthood for leading the
successful mission (thus far).  The High Command ordered the Cavalier’s to
assist and help de-stabilize the worlds and forces of Clan Smoke Jaguar in
concert with units from the D.C.M.S. and mercenary units stationed on Wolcott.
They have conducted two raids thus far, ending the year returning from a
extraction raid to Yamarovka.
