Overview
When the VLK-QD Valkyrie variant was first introduced in 3050, some light 'mech commanders complained about the need to close with the enemy to use the Medium Pulse Laser after all the LRM Ammo was expended, a task the light and relatively slow (for a light mech) VLK was ill-suited to. During the Clan Wars, Delta Company of the Davion Light Guards decided to refit its VLK-QDs by replacing the MPLs with the original standard models, and using the saved weight to increase  the LRM-10 ammo carried. Just before  the start of the FCCW, the new tech available allowed Delta's techs to replace the Medium Laser with an Extended Range model, linking it to a new Targeting Computer by dropping the extra ton of Ammo. The result was a Valkyrie variant capable to keep firing from distance with superior accuracy even after all the LRM Ammo was expended. The VLK-QDELTA proved its worth several times during the Civil War, surprising Loyalist troops that were used only to the old model's capabilities.

Capabilities
The VLK-QDELTA is a simple variant of the VLK-QD, using a Defiance Model XII Extended Range Medium Laser in place of the Sutel Precision Line Medium Pulse Laser, linked to a Targeting Computer in the Right Torso to increase its accuracy. Keeping the normal fusion engine and Ferro Fibrous armor makes this 'mech more resilient than the new VLK-QD1 model, even if with less long-range firepower.

Deployment
Only Delta Company of the Davion Light Guards deployed this special variant of the common Valkyrie during the FCCW. Most of these were destroyed during the final battle for New Avalon, with only a couple still in service with the unit now, the rest being replaced with newer VLK-QD1s and heavier Dervishes. At the moment it's difficult to foresee if more Valkyrie will be refitted again as VLK-QDELTA variants.

Known Variants
The only known (and no more deployed) variant of the VLK-QDELTA was the first version of it (with the same designation), equipped with a standard medium laser and one extra ton of LRM-10 Ammo to replace the Medium Pulse Laser of the VLK-QD. Currently this variant has been completely abandoned and there are no plans to reintroduce it, unless as temporary field refit in case of problems in finding replacement parts for other VLKs.
