The Lyshunin-class Heavy Patrol Boat was designed and built during the last decades of the thirtieth century. The Admiral Lyshunin left the MHNY drydock on March 2, 2988. Easily recognizable by its boxy superstructure and the prominent silhouette of the Kop'e (Javelin) Artillery System, the shallow-drafted Lyshunins were designed to provide fire
support to other naval and ground forces. While able to deliver a steady stream of shells on target, the Lyshunins were plagued by numerous design problems. For instance, the bow mounted LRM battery's exhaust obscured the bridge crew's ability to steer, leading to the unintentional grounding of one ship. Despite this, however, seven other ships of the class were built over the remainder of the decade, the last being the Admiral Morazov in 2996.
The vessel served admirably in the Novaia Zemlia Planetary Militia throughout the first decades of the thirty first century. During a Capellan raid in 3015, four of the
heavy patrol vessels played a key role in the defense of the port city of Novyi Azov. Using their long range fire capabilities, the Lyshunins were able to pin the Capellan demicompany long enough for reinforcements to arrive. Two of the vessels were lost to catastrophic ammunition explosions, after the Capellan 'Mechs closed with the vessels. There is no record of survivors from either vessel.
By mid-century time and sea were taking its toll on the four remaining members of the class (one had been lost to a collision at sea with a merchantship). The Admiral Buchau
and Admiral Morazov were decommisioned and cannablized to help maintain the remaining vessels. The Admiral Lyshunin and Admiral Shermetova were given extensive overhauls in 3052. The bow mounted LRM's were upgraded to the improved SLVZ Morenskii Predvestnik (Sea Harbinger) and the torpedo launchers were similarly improved to Morekaia (Moray Eel) Mk. 4 standards. In 3055, both vessels launched within days of each other. The Shermetova's return to the sea, however, was brief. She sunk in a unexpectedly fierce gale in December
of that year. The Lyshunin still serves on with the planetary militia. As the heavist ship in military service, it act as the flagship for the planet's small naval contingent.
