Overview
     The Apache was suppose to be the third design released from Spirit Mountain Weaponries, but problems with the engine housing caused a radiation leak that severily injured a test pilot. A flaw in the engine housing was found and corrected, but the engineers took 6 long months of testing to find it, and another 5 months redesigning the engine housing. As the Apache finally enters production it is expected to see combat in the coming FedCom civil war.

Capabilities
     With the Apache's engine problems fixed, the design is anticipated to hit the battlefields running. Designers feel they have outdone themselves with the Apache.
     The Apache was given jumpjets to allow the design to have maximum mobility in any terrain, and is one of only a few heavy 'Mechs to have them. Armor protection was maximized on all portions of the designs frame to allow it to withstand the heavy combat it was expected to be involved in.
     As the designs main weapon an Imperator Code Red was installed with three tons of ammunition. This would allow the MechWarrior to carry ample types of both types of ammunition for the LB autocannon. As a backup the designers
installed a Blazefire Sweetshot ER Large Laser. This way if the Apache ran out of ammunition for the Impertor autocannon it would still have a weapon capable of inflicting considerable damage at long ranges. For secondary armament the engineers installed two or the new Blazefire Longshot ER Medium Lasers and a Generation Streak SRM/4 rack. This would give the Apache a good solid medium and short range punch. Even though the armor for the Apache was considered sufficient to protect the 'Mech, CASE was installed in the right torso. This would at lease save the MechWarrior in the event of a ammunition exlposion. 
     The communications system and the T&T system are the same as used in the Iroquois. The Apache would have been the first design to use those systems, but the delays caused by the engine problem allowed the Iroquois to reach production lines first. Several mercenary command have already approached Spirit Mountain Weaponries with an intrest in the design, and have inquired as to when production runs will be made available for purchase.


Variants
     The only variant on the drawing boards are for poorer units and Periphery realms. It replaces the advanced extended range weapons for the regular variety. While this does reduce the range at which the Apache can engage opponents, it dramatically reduces the heat of the design and allows a much higher volume of fire. As a result one double heatsink is removed and two small lasers are installed in the left torso, one of which points to the rear. While not a significant boost in firepower, it allows limited protection to the rear and additional close range firepower. The Outworlds Alliance has expressed and interest in this design.
